Title: Another Merry Tiller query!
Post by: bikerjohn on June 24, 2007, 22:35
I have a 1965 Merry Tiller rotovator, with a Briggs 3HP engine.  Can anyone help re the following points please.  I is the model with the front fuel tank, and the carb (Flojet) behind.

1.  On the plastic governor vane, there is a small hole on the end of the flange.  does this connect to the throttle spindle on the carb, and, if so, by what means?

2.  Is there a spring that connects the throttle spindle on the carb with the base of the control rod.?
3.  Does the throttle cable connect directly to the base of the control rod?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, John

this may sound stange, but can you give me a model type and code number for the engine? you will find them stamped on the cowling.
your engine sounds a little on the veteran age, and i will have to look it up. :D

Hi Gwiz,
Since I posted this, I have just been given the required information by a very helpful chap named Richard Tallantyre, who knows his Merry Tillers!  So thanks very much for your offer, but I wouldn't want you to spend time needlessly,  when I already have the answer.  Just out of interest, the numbers on the engine are:  80302 0154 016606031, and in 1965 I was 19!!  Makes me a bit of an old person really :(
Thanks again, John.
