Mushy Potatoes
« on: August 23, 2009, 15:34 »
I have just finished digging up our last row of Vivaldi pots and have had a fab crop. However, about 4 potatoes literally exploded as I pulled them up. They were full of slime. Yuk. The ones nestling against them were fine.

Any ideas as to what this is, and maybe how to avoid it?

Many Thanks

Apparently, it's the original seed potato and quite normal!

Took me by surprise too!  :)

Could allso be slugs eating away at your crop.

My money's on the mother spud!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I think it was mother spud as I had almost no slug damage to the others that I dug up... and the slimey ones were nestled right next to ones that were fine.
