Just a note about blackberry brandy (mentioned above by Mrs Bee)

It tends to be more blackberry-ish if you use half brandy and half vodka in my experience  :D  The flavour of the brandy can swamp some of the more delicate brambly taste otherwise.

Thanks Sunny, I will give that a go this year instead of the Brandy.

If you get to go to france they sell cheap flavourless spirit especially for making liqueuers.
It is called, Alcool pour le fruits. Sold in the chemists and the supermarkets.

my recipe for liqueur is just to put your chosen fruit into a large jar (I have a load of the swing top kilner type ones (a swedish furniture store sells them at reasonable prices  ;) ))  and cover with vodka - put it on the dresser (it's out of direct sunlight) and give it a shake every now and then when I walk past.

leave it until a few weeks before Christmas and make a batch of sugar syrup, then have a fun evening straining and mixing the vodka(s) with sugar syrup "to taste"...  :D

I looked into this today ! you cannot get a license for less than 1800 ltrs. I had a long chat with customs and there is NO LEGAL METHOD FOR THE HOMEBREWER so just be aware if you go down that road ,as they may have to notify sales  :(
