They won't grow over winter.

They'll be fine come spring.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I planted a new low hedge of lavender in November. They haven't grown either. But I gambled on French Lavender and the galic idiots have decided to flower now,not being fully hardy I'm afraid a frost now will kill them.More fleece maybe?

I would. The french varieties are more tender.

A few years ago I was given two different French lavenders in what is best described as dilapidated condition.  :nowink:

One recovered quite well, the other one obviously wasn't quite so sure - guess which one survived last winter (without protection) and went on to be quite a sturdy looking plant?

English lavender is so tough it probably grows at the South Pole  ::) - I've just dug out a 7 year old specimen as it was getting too big for its border despite regular trimming (but there are 2 of its "babies" waiting to replace it!)  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
