Hi there. Me again!
Have two begonia tubers,planted them,as read on Internet,half their height deep. Both of them have shoots about 4-5cm high. But at some point shoots of first one became wilted and soft. And whole tuber is soft when I squeeze it. Another one is healthy. Some time ago i lifted them and saw tiny white roots,now there are none. What happened to first one and how not to kill another,as they're very very fussy. The are trailing outdoor ones,but as I read afraid of everything : heat,water,wind,cold...sigh. I don't water them too often,small container they are in has some water absorbent crystals underneath of soil so yeah,only water once in a while.

You don't mention if they're in too hot/too cold or too sunny/too shaded an area, or whether they're near possible drafts. They are rather finicky plants and may possible have fallen to any of the above or listed problems.

they should be 1/2" under the soil, and I often plant mine slightly sideways so water doesn't cup in the top depression. I find most tuberous begonias aren't sun lovers, preferring part or dappled shade, and at this time of year cold drafts or night temps can wipe them out fast.

Or, its possible you just got a bad root to start with. I buy only ones that have started sprouting in the shop and are dry and firm.

They're in our kitchen,so exclude drafts,sun,heat or cold.
I didn't know they can be sold with sprouting tbh,mine were without anything. Both were firm and healthy,but that wilty one had small moldy spot. They both went sprouting soon,thick nice sprouts. Probably its too damp or too dry soil for them. I'm taking care when watering,don't let water go in the middle.

I think you have answered your own question if the dead one had a mouldy spot on it when you planted it...

Bought 4 more tubers,threw away bad one. They all are looking healthy.
Can't wait to plant them out. When will be just the time,please?
Its now even a little bigger since the pics was taken.
