According to my Mathematics, 1 cord (4ftx4ftx8ft) is 128 cu ft.   1 cu yd is 3ftx3ftx3ft or 27 cu ft.   So 1 cord is 128/27 or 4.74 cu yds.

some types of wood burn quicker than other types,beech + oak are best  :wink:

I agree with Shaun , and if you can get it Hornbeam is fantastic , very dense but burns very hot and lasts and lasts .
