Title: Another mystery plant ID please.
Post by: Goosegirl on May 22, 2021, 09:54
When we moved last year this was growing in our greenhouse border so I posted pics on here but it wasn't identified for sure. We pruned the out-growing stems down by half in winter and now it's growing quite fast. The previous owner wasn't much of a gardener so I'm pretty sure it's not a peach or something similar that needs to be grown in a greenhouse. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be.

Could it be a plum?

It's not had any blossoms on it but that could be due to pruning it in spring. We do have some apples, pears and a plum tree outside but how it's got inside the gh is a mystery.

I don't suppose it might be a sucker from the rootstock of one of your outside trees?  How close are they?

Quite a way apart. The latest update is that OH dug it out and replanted it in a big tub but it has now died.

Sorry to hear that Goosegirl,  but it had two chances.  Get him to buy you something lovely for the tub now, Mrs Bouquet

To be honest I'm not that bothered as I think it was just something that got into the greenhouse by accident as opposed to something specially planted there. I don't blame OH as we both wanted it dug out and it was worth a try.
