Title: Lawn sand
Post by: AlaninCarlisle on March 16, 2021, 16:19
One of my lawns is riddled with moss, poor drainage and shaded by trees is my guess. It's quite a large one, 20m x 20 m. I bought a sack of lawn-sand to try and kill the moss preparatory to scarifying it. Is it too early to use this here in the north of Cumbria?

Or indeed too early in any area north of the Midlands?

I'd say it would be ok to use it now, based on my experience here in Lancashire.

I watered some iron sulphate on my lawn a couple of weeks ago and it's had the expected effect.

Hello I'm starting in the next couple of weeks moss killing if it doesnt snow over Easter  ,im in East yorkshire , just check the formula of the lawn sand I use one that is 1percent nitrogen 9 percent iron so I dont have to cut the grass as often, then i scaryfy  the lawns  (i know it should be scarify ) but the machine i use scares every thing     jezza
