Title: Turbo Cider / Malic Acid
Post by: Shop Keep on June 16, 2010, 12:56
Hi Chaps

I'm now hooked on the turbo cider, but I would like to give it that little something extra.

I've tried adding lemon juice and citric acid to give it a little bit more bite but that doesn't quite do it for me.

I know the acid in apples is called "malic acid" so have any of you connoisseurs tried adding some malic acid to said brew and if so where can I get some from?

Cheers

Malic acid should be available from your local home brew shop or online, I'm sure the turbo cider is nice but have you tried making some juice wines, they are quick and easy and the more complex fruit wines occasionally will have a malolactic fermentation after the main ferment has long finished, there's more to life than turbo cider, personally I think it is akin to "white lightning" no real taste just alcohol! :(
