brassica seedlings in the greenhouse?
« on: May 01, 2013, 21:32 »
I have some purple sprouting and some sprouts that I planted a week ago, they are in my dining room - the seeds have just shown through - can I put them in the greenhouse?   I tend to leave the greenhouse door open night and day as nothing too tender in there at the moment but it does get quite hot in there with our sunny days now!   I could shut the door in the evening if need be.  Not sure what to do, the seedlings look like they might get leggy very soon if not already    Just not sure where to keep them, worried that the greenhouse may be too hot in the day or too cold at night? - any ideas?
 :)

Edited to put a second "a" in "brassica" for search purposes

A flower cannot blossom without sunshine nor a garden without love

Brassicas are hardy. I germinated mine in the greenhouse then moved them to a cold frame a couple of days after germination. Keeping them warm will make them leggy. All they need is protection from strong wind.

You have my sympathy, the same thing happened to me. So far, a combination of copper tape and beer traps seems to be keeping them at bay.

I know beer traps work, but it just seems such a wrong thing to do with such a nice thing.
