Net 'em or lose 'em!

I use a fine mesh, (about 10mm), keeps both the flying rats and butterflies out. May go even finer & stronger this year withsome debris netting.

Make sure the ground you plant in is really firm.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Wish I'd looked into debris netting before spending twice as much on 1/4 of the size on enviromesh last night  :( Oh well, that's next on the list.
RK, would love to see a pic of your frame when finished, if you don't mind? Would knocking up lengths of 2" x 1" wood into big squares do, do you think?

For 50m of the stuff, it's not bad is it.

Dropped lucky on ebay last week and got 50m of the 3m wide stuff for £25!!! Just a one off.

How tall would the frame need to be?

I'm guessing as tall as the sprouts intend to be?
That's why I wondered if 2" x 1" would be strong enough, as sprouts can grow quite tall.
I'm no good at screwing either, so mine will just be nailed together and hope for the best

Screw? Nail?

2" x 1" should be fine, mine's thinner. I just bang 'em in as posts & drape the netting over them & peg it down. No cross members, as the netting is fine, it can't slip down. Why waste wood? :D
