What does the forum think is the best regime for feeding blueberries?

Feed the once in the spring or lightly monthly? If monthly when should you stop so that you dont get late growth that will get damaged by the cold?

Is it best to use organic ericaceous food or doesnt it really matter? If organic is best what are people using?

It seems to depend on whether they are container grown or in open ground.

The Blueberries article on the main part of this website, and the RHS article, suggests if in open ground then not much feeding is needed, perhaps simply an annual mulch.  But as yours are in a container, the RHS suggests a monthly feed.

I have blueberries in large tubs. Every spring I add a thick layer of ericaceous compost mixed with some slow release ericaceous fertiliser granules. I then give them a (roughly) fortnightly liquid ericaceous feed starting from when they get flowers and finishing when the berries are finished. They do very well for me like this. The key thing too in my view is to give them a really good soak once a week in summer (more often this year!) as they don’t like drying out.

This exactly what I do especially the watering with rain water.

We have just four different blueberries in large pots, and only yesterday, they were moved to a new site.

Should they be re-potted? This year they were pretty poor and an errant blackbird was desperate to get under the netting, and usually got there...

But they're beautiful at this time of year - hence the move!
