Don't know what it would say on the packet, but I'm aiming to thin mine out to about one every 4/5", bit heavy handed when I sowed them so I've a couple of clumps in the row!

Im with beestie crawlies on this.  It says sow sparingly, but they always seems to tip out in clusters!  Just thin to about 4/5" when they are up

I must admit i dont usually thin mine out because they push themselves apart and i start to pick them from golf ball size upwards which allows the others to bulk up

I think they come out in Clusters because each knobbly sead thing is actualy a seed pod with several seeds in.

I am going to try not thinning this year to get some baby beat root to pickle

Thats what I have done in the past and not had any problems really, gives you a range of sizes which is good when it comes to pickling and eating.

I would not plant out wider than 2/3 inches or you will have big beet which the cooks do not really like.

I thin out any clusters to single plants and leave a plant every 2 inches. Pull as they get to golf ball size.

I don't thin out either, they'll push each other aside as stated.

And as for large ones I made some sliced pickled beetrot out of these, which were sold at a church fete.

I had a lot of re-orders.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
