hi all..i got some strawberry plants from ebay,, they where cold stored...looked just like the roots when they arrived   i planted them on allotment about 3 weeks ago    they showed leaves a few day on   very quick   now they are flowering with small fruit  on them do i leave them or cut them off  ty

I'd cut them off - they would be better off using their energy to grow roots and gain strength for next year rather than producing undersized fruit now.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I thought the idea of the cold stored ones was that you got a crop X days after you plant them, hence the big roots as they are established plants as opposed to rooted runners. What did the place you bought them from say about cropping?

Cold bare-root storage is really designed for commercial growers, who store grown plants for long periods and effectively extend the fruiting season by planting them at different times in carefully controlled conditions.

If the berries had been large I'd have been tempted to harvest and eat them, but it doesn't sound to me as if M1ckz's plants have quite built up the strength to do that yet.

I don't think that taking the few small berries the plants are producing now will make that much difference to what happens next year - the weather and how you look after them will be much more important.
