When to plant
« on: April 10, 2007, 20:42 »
When should I plant courgettes and pumpkin seed, I do not have a greenhouse, only windowsills. I am not sure if it is too early, was planning on doing my runners and sweetcorn may. Also at what stage do you plant out? How big should the plants be?

Sorry to keep asking all these newbie questions, I know its annoying. I am on a weightloss forum and am sick of the newbies asking how many calories in an ice lolly etc! At least I am able to help them out though!

courgettes and pumpkin : Early enough I'd say unless you have enough seed to resow.  I will be planting in second week of May with a view to planting outside (under cloches) 2/3 weeks later.  I get very late frosts though.

For Norfolk - and I am guessing - maybe leave it a fortnight yet?

If they are out side the frost might have em. I have this evening put my squash in(which are similar), but the will be in the greenhouse for a while yet and i am about as far south as you can be in England. Also near the sea which softens jack frost.
always have a target
and an objective.

Do you mean sowing the seeds in pots indoors in another 2 weeks? I am a bit confused.  I have done nothing yet, seeds still in the packets. How long does it take them to greminate and grow?
