Careful CJ  - I run John's Geriatric Cat's Home here :) They're not pests, they're rodent control operatives, retired.

Quote from: "Anton"
Sow carrots towards the end of the month. Outwit the carrot fly. As it flies low and in straight lines, it is defeated by a barrier (30cm /2ft high) of fine netting or polythene.

Any comments?

Anton
Bit confused? 30cm=1ft not 2 foot? and that is a bit of a difference from the 8 foot quoted above? I've put mine in a bath will this be high enough?

2 foot is the true figure (60cm) - flies are very old fashioned and have yet to go metric. :)

Our carrots seeds are safe !!! from anything Thanks to hubby. Little bit of lateral thinking and using what we had got lying around .

Thats environmesh covering ,we've used fleece before but on such a long row it was difficult to stop it blowing away or ripping. In case you re wondering they were sown in drills of sand cos we have clay soil that can bake like concrete.

Only sown last week so none through yet !
