Strawberries in growbag in greenhouse
« on: June 26, 2019, 20:57 »
I decided to try strawberries this year in a growbag . I planted 6 from B&Q in a staggered arrangement in a growbag in a tray on a shelf in my 6 x 10 glass. Greenhouse.
3 plants have died although the other 3 have flowered and produced some fruit.

Now another plant is dead - yet 2 look ok.

Is it too much water?

Help!

I would doubt if it is too much water. Strawberries do need  affair bit, and the plants I have in grow bags, albeit outside, need quite a lot or they wilt.

Check out the roots as it could be vine weevils. The white grubs will be very visible. They are a real pest of strawberry plants

They could be a little wet but you may have planted them too deeply.

The usual advice when planting strawberries is if you plant them in the spring to not let them fruit that year unless they are cold stored plants, so it maybe that they are weakened by fruiting after transplanting, if of course those ones that have died set fruit. Ideally they need to establish their roots  first.
