Title: Blueberries any hope?
Post by: londongardener on September 16, 2020, 21:46
I forgot to water a Blueberry pot and now the leaves are dropping off.
I have done so now, any chance the leaves will come back next year?

I dug up a struggling blueberry last year and stuck it in a pot.  It lost all it's leaves and I assumed I had killed it but it has limped through this year with a few new leaves and I'm assuming will improve again next year.

In short, it might recover but your patience may run out first.  Might be worth giving it fresh ericaceous compost before spring to give it the best chance.

Yes-definitely hope! I thought mine was dead in the hot summer a couple of years back through neglect but it spring back to life. Last year the birds got the harvest but this year I netted them and had a bumper crop.

Yes, don’t give up on it. After a holiday 2 summers ago, I came back to a totally leafless frazzled blueberry in a pot. I pruned back the crispiest stems and gave it lots of water through the autumn. Then in spring I mulched it with well rotted manure and gave it an ericaceous feed (slow-release granules). It had loads of new shoots last year and a few berries. This year it was super-productive. Good luck with yours.
