Sneezie chick

Hi everyone,

I have a 5 week old silky chick which has been constantly sneezing for a good 3 to 4 weeks,

we had him/her to the vets two weeks ago, the vet had a look then disappeared for 10 minutes ( to look up symptoms on internet) and came back with bird flu, wanted to inform defra and have all my flock culled ( chick had never been outside or in contact with any other birds)

,

They did gave us baytril which we gave but she/him still sneezing.

None of the others have symptoms, he/she eats and drinks ok

He/she needed to be helped out of the shell when hatching and is noticeably smaller than the others
I have looked at the old threads but nothing seems to match the symptoms

If anyone can help would be appreciated

Well if the chick has been sneezing for a month and the others haven't caught anything it's probably not an infectios disease.

I've no idea what would keep a chick sneezing for that long though

The only thing we can think of is that she/he maybe allergic to something (hope its not chickens)?

Have you heard of chickens having allergies?

Maybe a dose of Tylan may help as this is used for sneezes and coughs but you will have to get that from your vet.

It's a strange one but the only suggestion I can add I'm afraid.

I will try some Tylan, Can i just ring the vets and order it or will i have to see the vet?

I can just ring my vet and they leave stuff at the desk for me it will depend on your relationship with your vet.

my pet cow Elliemay once had a runny nose and watery eyes, she was diagnosed by the vet (during tb testing) as suffering from hay fever, who ever heard of a cow with hay fever.....................
