Searching for seaweed at Weston S.M.
« on: April 20, 2011, 21:42 »
Off to Thatcher's Cider Farm to obtain 'some of the good stuff' for a forthcoming sailing trip.  If no Mal de mare before.  .   ::). .

Anyway, as it is on the way to Weston Super Mare, does anyone know of a beach near W-S-M where seaweed collects with easy access for a van so I can collect a load?    Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

And, of course, where the local bye-laws permit seaweed collection ...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi Klefti, this may come too late for you, however if you've not already left, head for Sand Bay, googlemaps BS22 9UR is close enough; follow the beach road past caravan site and you'll come to a small car park where you can drive no further. Some seaweed on beach before you get to this point, or you can follow rough footpath along headland and collect as you go - just watch out for the mud, it's easy to get stuck and best to go on an outgoing tide, that water comes up mighty fast and it's not a good place to get stuck,
have fun,
JMW

No you wont find any seaweed at Weston I`m afraid. Plenty of flotsam and jetsom though. Loads of wood gets washed up that has come down the river Severn and people living near the beaches who have wood burners collect it.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?
