Title: Planting Instructions
Post by: mrs bouquet on October 14, 2020, 16:45
As I am trying to increase my container plants, I keep looking up things that take my eye.    This way I can learn if they are suitable.  But the instructions for what soil to use is very vague.   ie:   regular soil and a bit acidic.     What I am supposed to ask for at the G.C.   ::)  Mrs Bouquet

To a degree it will depend on a) what sort of plants you want, b) what size of container they need i.e. width and depth, c) how much sun they need and d) the appropriate soil and drainage requirements. Personally I'd go for a multi-purpose compost with added John Innes as it won't dry out as fast in summer and should suit most plants. For well-known acidic-loving plants like Camelias, heathers, Acers etc then use an ericaceous compost.
