Title: Adjusting autovent opening distance??
Post by: infowarrior on June 04, 2007, 20:48
I've bought myself an autovent for my greenhouse window so it opens and closes automaticly depending on the heat.  My problem is it opens too far and I don't know how to adjust it so it only opens about 8 inches which I would like.  It doesnt mention it in the instructions.  Has anyone got one of these and can offer advice???

I'm trying to envisage your setup.

Is it not simply a case of mounting it further away from the hinge so that it doesn't open so far?

Arn't they supposed to open right up ? else they won't work properly, on cooler days it should open less wide to conserve heat, on hot days you need it as wide as poss to keep the temp down, My old one you just adjusted to what temp range you wanted.

I've put it on the narrowest opening setting and it still opens about 17 inches.  I was just concerned that if it's quite windy the wind might rip my window off if its open that wide.

sounds like its working perfect warrior.if you have a prevailing wind then put the vent on the opposite side if that's possible.
