where are the potatoes

 ??? hi all i planted my kestrel potatoes 1st week April and as this is the first time thought i would have a quick peek checked 3 plants and cant find any potatoes not even little ones, plants above ground look great so where are the tatties  :(

I think you're being a little eager!

Kestrel are a second early, (going on maincrop I'd venture to suggest), and others are only just looking to see how their first earlies are doing.

It is reckoned that first earlies take 13 weeks to mature and maincrop 22 weeks. Kestrel would lie between these two.

For "new" potatoes you harvest before maturity, so these times would be a bit shorter, but I've found with my experience of Kestrel that they are a better mature potato that harvested as a "new" one.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Kestrels are on my 'must have' list every year as they make superb roasties  :D

I don't even start to furtle until about 18 weeks, so no worries about yours at all  ;)
