Title: Hello from the Midlands
Post by: MidlandBrewer on August 31, 2016, 15:04
Hi All.
My Name is David, I’m 32 and have never been classed as ‘green fingered’.
I’ve recently moved out from the hustle and bustle of Stafford town centre to the middle of know where with lots of fresh air, good soil and space to grow things 
There are already 2 vegi patches marked out (that are very overgrown) and a greenhouse that is in the need of some repair.
I’m really looking forward to growing my own food and want to be as sustainable as possible.
The only clear steps I have made is making what I believe is, a very good chicken coop (I made this from scratch and will post up some pics later if anyone is interested). I’ll be picking up some rescue ex battery hens at the end of this week.

As the forum name suggests I also brew my own beer (another hobby I’ve recently got into) and would love to grow my own hops to brew with.

I’m looking forward to being part of this forum and any advice any one can offer to a complete newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

David

Hi David, and welcome to the forum.

Sounds as if you will have a good set up, after a bit of prep work  :D

So, the garden I have isnt very wide but it is very long!
There's also some space at the side where the chickens are going to live.

No mans land at the end of the garden needs to be reclaimed (which isnt going to be fun) and the 2 small vegi patches need digging out..... lots of prep work needed......

Welcome to the site and congrats on your veggie patches / greenhouse!

Thanks to everyone for the friendly welcome, cant wait for this weekend so I can get in the garden and start clearing and marking out my new plots (probly down in no mans land), lets just hope the weather holds out for a few more days!
