Title: Problem with French Beans (cobra) yellow leaves and brown curly beans
Post by: djmissj on August 03, 2009, 21:02
Hi There!!

I hope you experts can help.....this is my first year of growing my own, everythings doing really well apart from my french beans  :(
They started off well in the season and i started to get a good crop from them when they reached about 6 foot high,( they are in a sunny position and are well fed/watered), but over the last month the beans have started to be grow a bit stunted and curly at the ends, and they are sort of brown and blotchy and the leaves at the bottom turn yellow and i end up picking them off so the bottoms of the plants are virtually leaveless. I'm not sure because of all this wet weather (we are in Southampton) if they have some sort of disease???

Help!!!!!

Thanks
Jenny :D

Probably magnesium defficiency. Water them with tomato fertiliser, foliar feed or epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) at 1 tablespoon per gallon. Do not water the leaves in bright sunshine.
