okay - so my tomato plants were looking a bit brown and not too healthy recently but there was bundles of fruit just starting to ripen.

I gave them a decent feed and a good watering.

NOW though, the plants have completely died, dried out and withered. And all the fruit has fallen off - green and red!!

Gutted!!

Any ideas??

Can I still eat the fruit? And if so, how do I ripen the green ones??
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Oh no!

I think the same thing is happenning to mine.  The plants are looking really rubbish, the four that had started to ripen have developed dark wrinkly patches and fell off in my hand when I went to look at them.   :?

The green ones still look fairly OK, so I could do with some advice too!  Shall I cut my losses and start on the green tomato chutney?

Oh dodo.  Luckily I have an awful lot of bananas, so will be making an artistic pyramid of bananas and toms in an effort to get the blooming things to ripen.  :?

My house growbag looks a bit healthier that the allotment ones, but we'll see.  Grr.

same happened to mine think it was blight.
Someone said it was due to the very wet weather we had in August.

Ripening the green ones is quite easy - put them in a sunny window with a banana - it works.

Some are too unripe though - these get turned into chutney

If you have brown patches on your toms, as we do on some - cut off the yucky bit, dip in boiling water to easily get the skin off and convert into sauce for freezing.
