Well, further to my previous posts, as well as Florence we now also have Hinge & Bracket who joined us on Saturday (will post some pics later when back from work).

I remember watching Hinge & Bracket with my grandmother back in the 70s & when somebody suggested the names to us for the hens on the weekend  & I thought they'd be perfect!

Our original chickens 15 years ago were Hinge and Bracket.  Little * they were and used to chop off the heads of all my daffodils just as they began to open. Never able to pick a bunch for 4 years

Hi,  as I brought the chicken for the children they of course had to name them so we have bluebell after its breed, and my daughter chose the name Tinkerbell . :)

I notice some of mine, namely Jenny, Felicity, Molly and Clara, have been used by other people, but I also have:

Alice, Hermione, Mabel and Janice

RIP Madonna, Kylie, Lucy and Stephanie

I don't have a Nigel yet, but am thinking of adding to my flock just so that I can name her Nigel!
No matter how many plants I have in my garden, I can always find room for one more.

My theory is that because hens have a 'middle aged woman' look about them they get that kind of name (bit different to racehorses etc etc)......

My little flock are Minnie and Mo, Minnie's chick Georgie, Fleur and Gabriella (Delacourt sisters from Harry Potter - they are MilleFLEUR sablepoots) and the boys Salvo (after the handsome Inspector Montalbano) and Lopaz (named by my son after a character in some game)

Florrie, cos she is red (as in florid) a little lady.

Clara, a nice "chickeny" name. The athlete.

Lady G (Gobs***e) named by OH cos she never shut up! Boss lady, a real character.

Still miss my girls. :(
