Chrysanthemum question
« on: September 01, 2011, 22:34 »
I think I might be getting addicted to chrysanthemums  :nowink:
I rescued a pot plant last year, with a lot of help from people on here. I now have 5 large plants growing in the garden.
I recsued another potted plant in the spring and now have 5 more plants in 6inch square pots.
One of my original plants got damaged in the wind so I now have 5 more smaller plants as well
As I have no idea of variety should I assume that these are not hardy?
If so should I dig up the larger plants before frosts, or after like dahlias?
And should I be leaving the rest in pots in the greenhouse (no heat) to put out next year?
Sorry to ask so much, I never realised two house plant gifts would last so long!

Thanks

Elaine

It is hard to tell if they are completely hardy.

All I can say is that I transplanted three small plants from one of those cheap 'pot plant' chrysants you can but at the supermarket' and they lasted well outside for a year or so.

Much taller of course, but they flowered well
