Seed Potatoes

Happy new year everyone,

This is my first year with my allotment and would really like to grow potatoes.

Do I buy seed potatoes or do I just wait for shop bought potatoes to get roots?

I think I will start off with seed potatoes.

There are three types of potatoes - first earlies, second earlies, and maincrop. All go in at the same time but take respectively longer to grow.
