Is there a correct way to water seeds after they have been sown?
Do you water from the top or just put water in the tray and let it seep up from the bottom? or do both?
What's best?

it isn't about correct everybody does as they like. I find that bottom watering encourages exessive root growth too early. I did not like it.

I'm deffo a bottom. Put the seed tray or plant pot in water either in the sink or a gravel tray, let them drink til the top of the compost glistens then drain

There is no such thing as excessive root growth, just insufficient top growth. Top or bottom watering is a personal thing and I prefer watering my seedlings from the bottom but I like them to dry out between each watering event.

I water mine from the top but I do worry about disturbing the soil around their roots when they are so small.

I always water from below, I seem to recall reading somewhere there is less chance of damping off you u water from below.

With me it depends on the seed size, petunias, begonias have really small seed and I always get far better results from bottom watering, larger seeds I'll top water and I add cheshunt compound in my 1st watering to combat damping off disease.

I have always watered from the top.  As long as you don't overwater and there is good air circulation I have never had a problem.

Having just sown some seeds in some of Richy's paper pots, how do I water them??  :?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

If it wasn't for chemicals we'd be organic.

Top for me as well, agree with the Cheshunt compound first watering.
