Tomato Plant Spacing
« on: May 25, 2013, 14:14 »
My raised beds are 4' x 8 and I have one prepared for the toms (when the weather allows).

What's the recommended spacing for them? The packets don't say anything.

I have 3 different types - moneymaker, Roma and Gardener's Delight.

Thanks in advance.

18-24 ins apart for Moneymaker and Gardeners delight which grow up a single cane.

The Roma will need the full 24ins as they grow bushy rather than straight up like the others do.

I always grow mine in growbags - two per bag is fine, though it helps if you decrease the length of the bag by lifting it up, shaking the contents, then folding over the top edge. This ensures that the two plants can reach all the nutrients in the bag, and fattens up the depth a little

Why is row spacing wider than between plant spacing?
