I'm not sure if this comes under the heading frugal but i have foud if you go to your local nursery and ask for seed tray's instead of individual plug's of plant's you can get them cheeper i asked today for some seed tray's of busy lizzies as mine have gone dead and got 150 of them for £4 yes you have to pot them on and keep warm but when they are selling for £1.50 for 6 at b&q not bad realy
Dont tell lies you get in trouble

That is a bargain and if you think about it easier and cheaper than doing your own from seed. Happy hunting, Jan
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!

I find that all those annoying and wasteful plastic trays that food from supermarkets comes in have a much more fulfilling second life as seed trays. :tongue2:

If you happen to waste money on prepacked sandwiches (like I did today) you can make yourself feel slightly better by reusing the sandwich container.  If it is the plastic "pyramid" design, you can plant seeds in the flat part and close the lid to make a mini greenhouse.

I also reuse the plastic punnets that contain grapes, peaches etc.  They can either be used as seed trays or lids over pots.
We can be sad that rose bushes have thorns, or glad that thorn bushes have roses.

We took out household rubbish to the bins on the edge of the town the other day and propped up against the bin were 2 large seed trays, the plug seed type, so I picked them up and re-cycled them to my garage :D
They must hold about 100 seeds in each tray :D
