Which Bantam?
« on: October 08, 2007, 17:59 »
Hi All

Saw some Bantams at the weekend whilst walking around Bridport, and fell in love with them!  As they were in someones garden I was not able to ask which breed they were (they were brown/black with laced feathers and yellow legs/feet).  Hubby has agreed that I can increase my very small flock of three Black Rocks and get some Bantams (which I am going to house separatly from the Black Rocks) can anyone recommend a good Bantam to start off with?  I am looking for birds that would be hardy if possible, quite tame and friendly too.  Any one who has some experience with Banatms I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!

Buff Orpington Bantams.  Not my recommendation (I've never had bantams) but I know a man who has.

Are you there Munty

Hi
Can I butt in? :D   Having the huge experience of owning chickens for, well it must be nearly 4 weeks now    I would recommend light sussex bantams!
They are hardy, smart and will do anything for food so are easily tamed.
Also good layers (apparently!)
Cheers

I like Sussex bantams. I know a couple of guys who keep a flock along side their main breed simply because they make such good broodys :D

Nop, sorry ot say all of yall are wrong. the best breed to get are white silkies. they are the funniest things to see parading around the garden.
They are very hardy, good during winter, and are friendly(let u pet them)
-If life gives you lemons find someone who got vodka and have a party
-If it doesn't fit;force it. If it breaks; you needed a new one anyway
-Borrow money from pessimist; they don't expect it back
