Cancel Christmas .. the sprouts are off!!!

It's been a bitter sweet day for us. 

First thing this morning we had to say goodbye to one of the first hens we rescued, Jennifer.  Neither of us could eat so there were only 2 cups to wash up which I put off for over an hour.  When I finally got round to washing them  with tears still in my eyes I saw movement in the veg patch. 
I am new to growing  and have had only a few successes. I planted some sprouts in Feb on the day my daughter and her husband went out to Afghanistan, telling them that Christmas dinner was already under way.(they both came home safe and sound)
My initial reaction to the aforementioned movement was anger and thought "them damned cats!"
Crying in frustration I rushed around to see what was happening and there were the rest of the flock having a feast on the sprouts.  I laughed so hard that the tears started again and as OH came to see what the fuss was... he had 2 eggs in his hand, our first in over 2 months.  Chickens!!! their as bad as kids for bringing laughter and tears

ahhh don't you just love em!!  oh and they sprouts too which I only found out when we let them loose on our veg garden 

Much rather have eggs than sprouts (evil things).  Sorry for your loss.
