Marketmore is an outdoor ("Ridge") Cucumber and needs to be pollinated - but the insects should do that job for you :)

Is Telegraph self pollinating? I thought you had to remove the male flowers from Telegraph to stop the fruits becoming bitter?

There are F1 varieties that only have Female flowers that overcome that chore! / risk. Seeds tends to be more expensive though, and perhaps harder to germinate

I am growing telegraph frame this year and haven't done any self-pollinating.  I have had lots of lovely tasting cucumbers already.  I have either been very, very lucky or they don't need to be self-pollinated!

I am growing Marketmore and I haven't had to pollinate and they have quite a few cucumbers on. Grew them last year as well without having to give them a hand.

Have Avanti F1 in the greenhouse and its producing some really tasty and big fruit.
Also have Marketmore in the poly tunnel, have had about 4 fruits from it so far and have not had to pollinate.

Must try and leave one of the Avanti on the plant to get as big as poss for the competitions. mmmm but then again they are so tasty.  :D

This year (my first) I'm growing Suttons  F1  Superbel, it's an 'all female' type and we can't eat them as quick as they are producing, I'm picking between 1-3 per day!

Luckily my Plec's like them too so they have a couple per week.  :)

Female cuke plants will produce without male plants around. The male pollen is needed only to produce viable seeds, and since few of us really like eating big cuke seeds or having to scrape them out, simply keep watering them well and they'll produce regardless. Cukes really can't take dry spells, even very short ones.

I have two big Plecs in my tank, approx 7 inch each, I give them the smaller cukes and they love 'em.  :)

I was imaging shoals of giant plec devouring cukes over foot long   Seven inches is a nice size in a tank. My Dad's last  plec got to 16 ins and broke the glass covering of the heater and killed itself  That used to like chunks of cuke and lettuce past it's best, as I recall :)

Is this my first cucumber?
