A family member has 2 in their shed that have been offered to me. They look irresistible. They're in sturdy metal frames and I'm sure they can be put to some use down the allotment. I didn't measure them but I reckon they're about 3 by 2 feet.
Who can think of a good use for these?

Sorry Aunty. :) Another one, we adapted a lean-to shed made from opaque corrugated polycarb. sheet, to have a big window and used it to house a cucumber plant this summer with great success.

While you's are all on about glass,
Here's a question,
Can you 'split' double glazed units then cut the glass to size??
I was offered a HUGE conservetory's worth of units today but they were too big to re-glaze my green house. :(
Imagine the cash I could've saved! 8) 8)
Or could it be :( :(

Beware, beware, beware ! If it strengthened glass and it will be in the case of the conservatory glass, should it break it will break into thousands of tiny squares (ish) and be a real pain [sic] to remove from the soil. >:( Cheers, Tony.

Should/would it have that logo in the corner of the panes to tell you that??
Or do they not bother with them being sealed units??
-
We offer a 'glass cutting option' but if you can't tell us the history of your glass , we won't do it! The insurance risks are well above what I amprepared to to pay for us cutting 'sheet glass'.

If you can get an double bed base you can make an even bigger cold frame

Goldfinger, It is possible to do, but really isn't worth the effort. When I did the cleaning at our local conservatory and window manufacturers, we used to bring the old glazing home, but Brian broke more than he succeeded with. And yes they do smash into millions of tiny bits of glass, not sharp but a blooming nuisance!
Brian was going to make me a heat sink in the greenhouse with all the bits, but didn't bother in the end, so it all went in the skip!
It's not just a case of cutting the glass, but because the units are sealed, you have to cut the bit that joins the glass together. One of the fitters did tell me how, but I can't remember the details now.
