is it true you can sex link a Buff Sussex chick at Hatch as hubby and i are just looking around ebay and saw this as we don't know a lot about the breed but if that was the case we might buy a few as we are going to the auction and might keep an eye out for them..

Theoretically a buff sussex (gold male) x light sussex (silver female) will produce red sex-linked chicks. i.e. cockerals would hatch silver and pullets would hatch gold.

However to call the pullets "100% pure buff sussex" is stretching the truth just a little!  They will be buff, and the will be sussex... but they are not pure buff sussex lol!

Casey76 Thank you I found your explanation much easier to understand than all the stuff I could find on the web about the Sex link breeds,

They tell you more what to cross with what to get a sex link, than to know if you have a hen or a cockerel. Way to much confusing data for a laymen who just wants to have hens.

Genetically they won't be Buff Sussex though they might look like then.  If you were to breed them in a second generation i'm not sure what would result but you wouldn't get buff sussex boys and girls.
