Title: Frontline recommendation? coop mite problem.
Post by: Tricky on May 22, 2020, 21:23
im not sure what sort of mites im having problems with, theyre brownish/red approx max 2mm in size, but lots and lots 1mm size. the mites are not bright red or spider like, but more brown and miniature beetle type.
my coop has been empty for a few months, but with the plans of having new arrivals i disinfected it with jeys fluid, and have also sprayed it with Total Mite Kill Liquid Concentrate, a week later the mites are back and multiplying.
ive read that a Frontline spray should work, could someone recommend the correct type to use as i dont see any advertised for poultry?
thank you.

Frontline has not been approved on Chickens.
Look up Hillfooters Slurry on this site, a little goes a very long way.
Afterwards keep wild birds from the coop

Frontline is a treatment for applying to animals, not housing.

There is a spray on treatment called Poultry Shield for coops and I have used it before.  I would recommend you invest in a decent sprayer to make sure you get into every nook and cranny. A basic pressurised one for garden use is good enough.
