hi i have had my hens for about 6 weeks now, so i am very new to chicken keeping. i am getting concerned about one of my hens as she seems to be the victim of bullying. i have 4 hens, 2 of them are pure white with red combs, and two red hens. ithink they are hybrids but not entirely sure. the problen is that the two white hens seem to bully the red hens and one of the reds seems to get bullied worse. all four hens are the same age and all four hens are laying. do i need to put a stop to this? and if so how? can someone please advise. thanks happyclucker.

I would remove one or both of the white hens and put them in a cage and seperate house for a few days. This will enable to let the others get a break and establish a new pecking order. After a while introduce the white ones back (during the day) but keep seperate at night for another day or so. Then reintroduce into the original coop. This way they will have lost their place in the pecking order hopefully. I had the same problem, one ended up ok but the other returned to being a bully (almost killing another bird) so unfortunatly it had to go.

Hope it works for you, if not you can get beak clips which might be worth a try :)
