Anyone else had a terrible year with apples and the codling moth? I know there have been discussions on the subject and I do use a pheromone trap and grease bands...I'm just wondering if the pheromone trap is bringing more moths in but not trapping them?? Apples are falling daily...dont think I will be eating any this year.
Im thinking of not using a trap next year as the damage is definitely worse since I started using one (yes I replaced the pheromone bullet in spring)

I haven't really looked at my apples this year but up until last year, codling moth damage was really bad.  I got the pheromone traps set up with the glue bands in place, and the results were amazing - I managed to get a lot more unblemished fruit than ever before.

We had had a very long and cold spring last year, so that might have contributed to the improved harvest so one of things I make a note of.  Unfortunately I haven't set up new traps this year but should give me an idea of whether it had been worth getting the traps in the first place
