chickens need a new home
« on: May 26, 2011, 18:14 »
we are having a bit of a chat at the moment and would relish the assistance of my CHICKEN FRIENDS on this site?????

I really thought a new shed was the perfect size for my chickens but my OH believes that the mower etc should not be left outside for another year!!!

Hi
I voted for garden storage.  :)
Keep hubby happy and all the money saved on replacing mower etc can buy you a nice new coop.  :D

Why not try freecycle for a shed or coop?

design and build your own to your exact specifications - make it very big and very fancy and very expensive. When OH sees the drawings and realises he is meant to build it he will probably say " it would be cheaper to convert the shed". Thank him for being so wise and so kind.
Job done. (Risk here is that he then designs and builds a replacement shed which will be very big and very fancy and very expensive..............................)

Well done Richard. obviously that secret life at the weekend is paying off!

At a pinch, the mower can be squeezed into a corner as chickens will enjoy roosting and climbing on it. But DO remember, when you design your Ultimate Chicken Shed to ask for Everything you could possibly want - including room for the new chickens - as you never know ...

Well I'm shocked that 4 people have voted for it to be used for storage!   Maybe those four didn't read the question correctly and thought you meant storage for chicken stuff.  ;)

I love it when a plan comes together. My chickens are going to be rehoused in the shed and my OH is gonna build me a coop and he promises to finish it before i come out of hospital yeha.
