Storing Parsnips

What is the best method of storing parsnips and how long do they keep. I have just pulled some real beauties and want to store some so i can reuse the ground

It's a shame you want to lift them.

You'll be doing so before their flavour has developed, OK, they may be a good size, but you'll be loosing a lot in this department.

Despite their size, they won't be fully mature and I doubt they will store well at all.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If you really must move them I would dig a trench and replant them all in very close together.  However I agree that it would be much better to leave them alone.

There are some articles on the main site about this sort of thing.

If you click on the 'Growing Help' linky just under the banner at the top of the page, then scroll down to Allotment Foods, you'll find them there.  Parsnips may well be included there.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Next year consider planting parsnips in single file along the border. Parsnips are one of the longest growing vegetables and that way you pull them as required.

As they benefit from a good frosting which makes them sweeter, and why they stay in the ground as long as possible, you could try freezing them.  I've frozen fully mature parsnips with good results.

Thanks guys
I have not pulled all of them, just a few to eat and i have decided to leave the rest in the ground as this seems to be the best storage place for them. The ones i have eaten still tasted great though!!!
