Stampot Andive
« on: July 30, 2010, 19:54 »
We have a Dutchman on our site who has become a friend of mine,  last night he gave me some Endive and his recipe for Stampot Andive which i have had for tea so thought i would share as its very nice.

Stampot Andive

Make some Mash.
At the same time cube some belly pork small and fry until crispy.
Add to mash with some shredded endive, season.
Pour some of the pork fat over the top.
Enjoy.

Looks like i will be needing room and seeds for Endive next yr now  :D

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Mmmmm, crispy belly pork, potato and greens really appeals to my Irish heritage. :)
Cheese makes everything better.

cooking bacon arround £1.50 for a 450 gram pack in asda and in holland you get packs of what we would call lardons that no one buys because of the ammount of fat on them they sell really cheap as for the beans i buy loads of them when they are on offer

Do you remember when streaky bacon was 1s. 6d. a pound?  Or for you youngsters 7 1/2p for 500gms.

This is another thread really but I bet it's been done before, shoulder of lamb 4s. 11d. or approx. 12 1/2p.

Not really, but I can remember it being just over a squid for a packet of bacon.........not the £2.47 it was marked up at yesterday  marked up being the operative words on this occasion IMO..........

Marked up (by the retailers) are dirty words.  When you work back and discover what the producer gets it's obscene.
