We only started growing veg last year and we grew carrots in raised beds. We had no issues with carrot fly but our carrots all forked despite the soil in the bed having been sieved to remove all the stones. Someone at work suggested planting the seeds in loo rolls and then transplanting them in those. I've read that this is done with leeks but does this work with carrots?

I did read that some people sow them in pipes like drain pipes so can only assume loo rolls would be the same???

Sure someone will be along to confirm
New grower here - handle with care!!

Show growers grow them in drain pipes above soil level to get the depth of compost for long carrots.

Loo rolls are a completely different kettle of fish as you would bury these and they would compost down.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They can grow in soil pipes but people don't seem to have as much success with them
Not sure why but many have tried and given up or reverted back to drums
