Title: Best shallots for show
Post by: Salmo on September 14, 2013, 10:42
I have a stock of hative de niort but over the years they have deteriorated and I think they need replacing. Are there any other shallot varieties that I should consider for show. The ones grown from seed are not proper shallots so I would not grow them.

Aristocrat, are a very improved strain of hative and are near on unbeatable if grown well. Trick is to only save exceptional bulbs. Thing is, they don't store too well and it's often a case of replanting whatever is left. Medwyns are the only supplier to sell them a far a I know.
