Potato storage sacks
We couldn't find any specific potato sacks, so last year we got some cardboard boxes with holes in them from the local garden centre. They had been used to store daffodil bulbs, etc. We made sure the mud on the spuds was dry, then put them into the boxes, and into a dark cupboard. They stored really well, so have done the same again this year. You can usually smell if they are starting to go rotten, so we check on them frequently. Had some whopper spuds this year - seriously chuffed!!

Try your local Fish & Chip Shop just got 8 paper sacks for nothing, he was happy to get rid of them.

Just did the same  :D
I got 5, a bit wet because he had thrown them in the bin but they are drying out in the garage now. Will put a few holes in each sack as recommended and then store them off the ground in a dark corner of our garage which is always dry.

Thanks for all the tips.

Same here, cooperman
Once I was a passenger travelling along a quiet road - I shouted "STOP!" & driver duly slammed on the brakes & screeched to a halt - I jumped out & grabbed an empty builder's bag dumped at the roadside   To grow them in, that is.
The driver behind was rather bemused.
Never had such luck with storage bags - yet  :D
The baker's bags - daft Q but are they the flour sacks? Just so I know what to ask for

I recently got 5 for £2.50 on ebay (+2.00 postage) and I have just looked and there are more for sale at the moment. Just type in potato sacks in the search window
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty, and so is your head.

I will be off to the chippy on Monday.

Thanks for the tips, I was going to get some off Ebay, but £5 vs free, I know hessian is better, but if I punch holes the paper will be fine!

I got mine from Marshalls. They seem expensive from these catalogues, but the sacks are re-usuable year after year.

5 Hessian potato sacks for £7.95 and 5 onion nets for £3.95 plus p&p.

Am still gonna go to the chippy/fruit shop and see if I can get more for free though

I'd made some sacks out of weed fabric but ran out so this last lot I have stored in some archive boxes recycled from work - found these easier  to put in the shed - good to hear that Frog has used boxes - but will make holes in them forgot about air circulation :)
