Hate to sound like my mum, but do follow the instructions carefully and wear gloves etc.  Don't spray on a windy day or you may get your neighbour's crops or a facefull of the stuff.
Using twice as much as recommended won't be any more effective. I've seen that done. It does boost Monsanto profits though.

When my Dad was alive the council built 4 garages on a bit of waste ground next to our council house and turned the back of it into allotments.  I couldn't say how big it was, but it was more than the width of the 4 garages and a lot longer.  there was a pylon in the middle, that's why they couldn't build on it.  Anyway, my Dad was determined to be as weed free as possible, so where he worked at the time he could get all this plastic sheeting.  He dug about 3 foot down over the ENTIRE area bit by bit and lined it all with plastic.  Then picked all the weeds out as he went along.  I never remember him being bothered by weeds again!!!!

How long after using roundup should you wait until planting, and how long untill the grass dies.

I have some under silage sheet and it is going yellow, thinking with some roundup and then recover it, will it then just rot down when dead or does it all need digging out?

Cheers

Dave

I'd advise a minimum of 10-14 days before acting.  You will in all likelihood still need to dig out the roots but they won't be as strong because they're dying off.

It works on actively growing leaves, so if you are applying it to very weak foliage and then re-covering it, I don't think that will work because the plant's system is not operating properly in order to move the weedkiller to the roots, from where it starts dying.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi

Not alot of point using the round up then in my case, as the sheeting does the same job.  With the added bonus no chemicals, and it doesn't cost me anything.  The ammound of silage sheet around Cheshire is quite surprising!  hehe

I will just leave the sheet down and dig bits as and when I feel like it.

Cheers

Dave
