Silly question, but here goes.....
I had been hardening off some plants for 3 days (in the greenhouse at night, and outside in the day). Then we had heavy wind and rain, so everything has been back in the greenhouse for about 10 days or so. Will they need hardening off again before planting out? or do you think they can go straight in the ground?
Thanks

I'd harden them off again. Do you have a cold frame. I does stop you keep having to lug plants around

Thanks Aunt Sally - I wish I did have a cold frame - This will be one of my many projects for over the winter :!:

your right again aunty i hate humping trays and pots in and out of the greenhouse  a cold frame is a must ,if its quite mild like it is now you could throw a bit of fleece over lets say runner beans at night and remove it each morning.

Good Idea Shaun :!:

A coldframe is definatly useful though last year I had to be away from home for a week in May and had quite a few thing hardening ,rather than go back I put them under the viromesh tunnels protecting planted crops and they all did well.I`ve now got cold frames full and am waiting for these winds to drop so I can plant out.

I'd love a coldframe but just never get round to building one, real pain in the ass moving everything out of the greenhouse and then back in again day after day, mine get 4-5 days with the greenhouse door open, 3 days out in the day, then they have to rough it, as I'm fed up with that bit by then.
Must admit the whole hardening off thing is the worst bit about growing stuff in my opinion.

I've got loads in my cold frame and as it's been so mild really i've been able to leave the lids partially open day and night from teh off without any ill effects. Even with the winds its been ok. Well so far so good with whats in there...got more to pop in tomorrow.
I just need the greenhouse now.

I forgot to harden off my dwarf beans.. they look terrible after the winds. Do you think they will be ok?

Pop some lemonade bottles over the top that should help them on a bit and help them to recover.
