I have quite a few carniverous plants, my favorite in particular is the Venus Flytrap but now that spring has arrived they, like all plants are coming into bloom. So here is a bit of eye candy





P.S: the pics were taken in bright daylight and for some reason my 8MP camera couldn't focus on the flower buds. I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow or when the flowers open

Your plant is really healthy and beautiful. You must have a lot of flies to feed it  
Tried fly traps myself several times and they never survived for me :cry:

Your plant could have died for a number of reasons. They are very fussy, you can't use normal soil, no nurtients what so ever, slightly acidic soil. It could have been anything.

my oh got a few seeds for a Christmas pressie and I plated them about 8-10 weeks ago, as per instructions
still no sign of germination
Is it time to give up? He really wants one of these!

Bare in mind, some seeds can take up to a year to germinate, also the fresher the seeds the better. If they came in a seed kit, I wouldnt hold out much hope, the seeds in kits arn't usualy viable. Aside from that, getting them to grow as big as myne will take up to 3 years or more with seeds. Its by far the most inefficient way of getting one. I would recomend Plants A Float They have seeds on there aswell as live plants. They sell them at a reasonable price and very high quality plants. They are UK only at the moment. Just click on the carniverous link to the left. There are around 60 in total, but not all of those are VFT.

No problem
Just remember, they can die if you use tap water, or put them in any nutrient what so ever. In the sundries there is Carniverous soil mixtures so you can buy the correct one for VFT and plant it in that.

I will add some to the VFT order, and use the water from my water butt too
Interesting that closing the traps artificially will kill them, I never know that. I will have to tell my curious 8yo to leave it alone :-)

Yeah, it can kill them because they are quite weak plants because they have no nutrients. Good luck with the plant
