The bucket of water really does the trick!!! We've done this with a few of our cockerels. Grab the miserable critter very firmly....as if you mean business.... put his body up to the middle of his neck (he won't like it by the way!)....and keep him there for a couple of minutes. Repeat if necessary!!!
